Painted my bird!!!
After 2 weeks of body work, I finally have the paint on it.
I decided to do a two tone and put a screaming chicken on it. The two tone works out great with the aero spoiler. As far as the chicken, I have always loved the 2nd gen T/A's so I had to have it on there. I was leary about doing it at first but after seeing 82firebird's progress pictures I was conviced to give it a try. So I sprayed the hood black, grabbed some chalk, and went at it. Turned out great so I went ahead and taped it and sprayed. I used the Nason paint line and went with the Kalapana black and a Dark Tarnished Silver. Now I just have to start wetsading. So what do you all think?
BTW, more pics can be found at Qytum.net

Look under your mirror.... you say its 5 coats.. i dont think your dumb enough to do all that graphic work for a rattle can.. if you swear it wasn't then i think you did a combo of things.. too dry of gun.. (too much air and not enough paint) and a bad name brand of paint. it looks good in the back the other tone part of the paint. but i dunno about the black.

i aggree it looks hazy from the pictures, hopefully when you sand it and stuff itll look shiny!
but in all honesty, im not much of a firebird fan, especially not that year, something about the front end and the side skirts looks wierd, but DAMN! thats sexy! the silver on top just sets it apart from most of the other birds, i love the idea of paint you had! hopefully that paint turns out awesome and you can get me some high res pictures i can use for a background or something

The car looks great. I've seen it in person and it has plenty of gloss. The bird looks amazing especially since he drew it free hand. Anyone in the area should stop by Advance where he works to see for themselves before making stupid comments like it was rattle canned.
Great job, Qytum! Can wait to see it when it's done.

thanks for the compliments guys, As soon as I get a couple days off of work I will get the wetsanding and buffing done. I'll update the thread once that is all done with the new pictures. Might even throw in some before pics (bought the car wrecked in front). I dont know why the pics turned out the way they did. But I can see my hand and key when I unlock the door. Besides, This is the 3rd car I have done with this paint line and all have turned out real glossy once sanded. I am actually suprised of the amount of people who like the chicken. I know that is a 50/50 kinda of thing on this board since alot of those don't like them on the thirdgen.
I will update in a week

Wetsanded!!!!!
Took longer than a week to get done thanks to work but the important thing is that it is done.
Hopefully this will clear up that clear coat issue. Also, I made a t-top holder and will make another thread with that soon. Just have to pick up some moulding to finish it off. Oh yeah, it doesn't involve any wood

Great job!!!! I like the two-tone paint and the bird on the hood. It really sets it apart from all the run of the mill cars out there.

Very nice. I like the silver and black two tone.
The only thing id recommend would be to break up/define the feathers of the bird w/ some black, or grey between the body and wings/ feathers.

Wow, the pics look MUCH better after you wet sanded it. Nice job!
I plan on a black/silver two tone, though it will be silver on the sides and black on all vertical surfaces. Good color combo!
