Can you believe this is 1100 bucks damage?
So, I'm driving home last Tuesday from a Pre-op physical, light rain had just started. I was starting to get over for some people merging from an entrance ramp onto the interstate... just as I check my left blind spot...
WHAAAAA-THUNK!!! A two foot section of a semi-truck tire cap smacks my hood and skips across the upper corner of the windshield! The sound startled me enough to twitch my arm to the left, sending the car skating out of control through the middle and left lane. I let off of the gas gently, correcting the skid and saved it just inches from the center concrete divider while riding out the rumble strips. A guy that had been in the hammer lane went by me in the middle lane and gave me a very excited thumbs up!!! Must have recognized the NASCAR skills...
I can't believe the body work alone is over 1100 bucks! NOT INCLUDING THE GLASS!!! I'll be getting the glass fixed by a shop and pocketing the rest to fix it myself. Heck, I've already got the materials since I've been going to repaint this thing forever anyway... Now all I have to do is spend an extra afternoon to get paid 1100 bucks! (half pay out now, half when the work is inspected by a claims adjuster after my body work is complete.) A few dents in the hood, one above the A pillar. Everything looks easy enough to get out... or perhaps this is what I need to get a cowl or RA-I hood.

wow.. that would wake you up in a hurry.... thank *** the truck wasn't attached to it!
If you thought that was fun you should try dodging a flying surfboard on the freeway going 60mph in the rain. Wooo!
In all seriousness though, sorry to hear about the damage, hope you can fix it as good as new.

I'll give you 75 for some gauge bezels if you are in a pinch.

Do they really need to be that expensive?

Wow, that really sucks. It looks like you've turned it into a positive though. Are you repainting the same color or something different?

First thing is first though, I need the new engine/trans to be done so that it doesn't smoke so bad on start up... She's got the worst valve seal problem I've ever seen on any SBC. Something so that I won't be stink-ily ebarrasment-ified...

Good things can happen from accidents like these. I am glad you are alright and have a positive outlook on it. Much like you, when I blew my 305, I didn't see it as a bad thing, but an oppertunity to improve. Good luck with the car.
