my car needs to get painted within a month here, and I'm just trying to find out how much I'm gonna spend and how much I should spend on a paint job..This is what I want, its gonna be just regular paint, nothin special, but its gonna be black on the top, then bright red on the bottom, then its gonna be cut with a silver stripe about 2 inches below the side windows....then I have an ss hood that has to be fitted, then a z28 spoiler that has to be put on....then as far as body work, i have a few small minor dents, then I want him to shave my door handles...and from what I've heard, that isn't that much work/labor...the guy is a friend of my dad's, and he lives like 2 hours away, and has told us in the past he'll do it as cheap as he can do it for ya know.....i'm just tryin to get a ballpark figure before i go up there and give him my car and say here paint it, then find out I dont' have enough money at the end...i have like 1600 saved up, then i'll get another 500 in a week...will like 2100 or so cover it ya think??

 

you can go to a shop for that much. A paint job shouldnt cost much. So long as youve got the proper equipment. Like gun, paint, fans, a well ventilated area...Id say a few hundred+bucks shud do u good...Depends on your choice of paints I guess though. But for that much u cud deff have a sick home made job IF he knows what hes doing.

 

he owns a body shop, so yea he knows what he's doing.....I'm not gonna use the most expensive paint, but I'm not gonna get the cheapest paint out either....maybe i'll go talk to him next week and see if we can work out a quote...

 

i just got my car painted that way and the paint alone cost me $800 and $2000 to paint it but it was a candyapple red.

Just depends on what you want and what your using it for really daily driver get a decent quality paint and keep it kept up and you can go pretty much under 2k.

Mine was 3k not including all the body parts i replaced but its mostly for show and race rare street driven but i'm looking at having it reshot in a few years and looking for absolute perfection....that comes at about 6k
