Refinishing aluminum lips on T/A rims

Just wanna know if it can be done without using the aircraft stripper, something I really dont wanna do because the black spokes do not need refinishing as it has recently been done.

So is there a way to either remove the clearcoat without the stripper or shine it up real nice with the clearcoat?....wetsanding???...

I refinished the wheels on my T/A using Acetone. If you are real careful not to get any acetone on the black paint it will take off the clearcoat extremely fast. I soaked a paper towel with it and worked my way around rubbing it away. It will take a lot of paper towells and about half a can of acetone because it evaporates so quickly. Then you can just polish it up with mothers, no sanding needed. Good luck, and might want to get a respirator because those fumes are killer after a few hours leaning over the wheels scrubbing.

Get an electric sander to take of the clear and smooth it out. And then wet sand it to about 1500-2000 grit. Finish it with some Motehrs Polish.

Or try that acetone thing.

air craft stripper in a spray can takes the clear off very well. i sprayed it on some z-28 wheels, let it sit for about 15 mins, came back and hosed it all off, bye bye clear coat.
