Conversion lamps
I'm looking to upgrade my headlamps on my 91 RS. I'm not really keen on spending $400.00 for true HID, but I'm thinking that there are H4 or similar type upgrades available. what have you guys used and who did you purchase from? I've seen several options on e-bay, but most of the kits are either missing parts (usually wiring adapters) or don't offer warranty, or look like they are chinese made $5.00 units.
Secondly, what were the results? Do they really provide better lighting? And, no, I don't want Silverstars--I've had terrible luck with them burning out after only a couple months, and I couldn't tell that they were noticeably brighter than my OEM ones.
Here in WA state, during the winter I drive to work in the dark, and home in the dark, and especially this year, usually in the rain, and my stockers just aren't cutting it anymore for me.
thanks.

I saw the other thread on this same topic. Strange that it didn't come up in "search". Are the Otto lamps the best option, or are there others?

I ordered them but haven't tried them yet. Only problem I just realized is that the Otto lights I was sent were 60/55 not 100/90. The picture was misleading but I'm guessing all I gotta do is give them a call and they'll send me the correct ones if I return the others. Sylverstars tend to be the 60/55 so unless you plan to upgrade the wiring as well and use 100/90's the lighting probably won't be that much different.

i've got the eurolite diamond cut lenses and 55/60 watt bulbs and it's a huge upgrade over stock. But I run 4 low 4 high. So that could be it to.

Another question I'm running up against is the legality of HID if I go that particular route in the future.
Many of the sites I've researched say they're not legal or won't sell to US buyers. What is up with that when they sell them new on cars all the time? I guess I'll check my state DOT rules and see if there is any info on that. For now though I'll stick with a more basic conversion.
