Well no, the regular camaros, berlinettas, SC's and RS's didnt get them. So yea essentially the slowest camaros didnt have them, unless you were blessed with the heritage package like myself and got them!!!!

if you consider the heritage package and off color headlight pockets a blessing. IMHO the only cars that should have black headlight pockets are black cars, otherwise it looks out of place. No offense just stating my opinion.

p.s. A pure white car with blackouts, window tint, and black rims would be able to pull it off too.

Of course, you're welcome to your opinion, but I couldn't disagree more.

Yea go blackout or go home. It seems the people who dislike the blackouts the most keep saying they dont fit the color scheme of the car or something. Yea my car may not have black anywhere else on it but the black headlight covers just set off the entire front end. I mean i don't know what it is exactly about them, but i absolutely loathe camaros without black headlight pockets....

i've never had a choice on black headlight pockets or not both my Iroc's are black but my step-mom's 84 Z H.O. is bad. The black light pockets set it apart for sure.

does anyone know what kinda paint to use for the headlight pockets. my car's bumper was repainted before i bought it and the whole bumper was painted the same. i go to school for auto body and we have a paint booth so i could do it. what exactly would the paint be though? its like semi gloss...can you buy it in a can? thanks a lot.

My 86 SC did come with the black headlight pockets, but when I painted the car I had them done the same as the whole car.

Black pockets were available on the top models,to help signify top model, but were also on berlinettas too(perhaps only the top berlinetta model?).

Yep, two more mid eighties SC's with black pockets here. It certainly wasn't ONLY the higher end cars.

....and I'll agree that I've never seen a car without black that I liked. It looks like they were forgotten about.

.....and I've repainted my pockets so many times over the years with nothing more than satin black rustoleum. NEVER had a single hint of a problem. I've actually started painting my grill insert that "satin" finish too so they match!

I'm happy I dont have the black headlight pockets on mine....I dont find it ugly, but to my eyes it's nicer without.

Superchevy magazine quote "Camaros dont have black eyes, they give them"

Even though the black headlight pockets make it look like the car is on heavy doses of crack, or hasn't gotten sleep in the past few weeks.....

I still love it to death!

camaros don't look right, in my opinion, w/o black, or even grey headlight pockets...

EDIT: just noticed my signature picture doesn't have the pockets painted yet

I still stand behind my original comment...

I think it totally makes the Z28/IRocs look like animals!!!! The car looks plain and boring w/o them. And in my own warped/perverted opinion, you know how good women look with mascara or whatever that black stuff they put around their eyes when they get all dolled up. You know it drives you wild. Well, same thing for me and nice Irocs.

I didn't mean the "berly" as a top model as in the Z28 or IROC.I was referring to the ones with a 305(the top/best berlinetta) Aren't those the ones that had black headlight pockets?

....sorry if I didn't make sense.

Painted mine black on my teal beater.... wish I hadn't.
Black and (dark-bright) teal is apparently the one combo that are 'two great flavors that don't taste great together' (kind of like fruitcake... fruit:good, cake:great, fruitcake:disgusting)
Just my opinion though...

This is true. My 86 Sport Coupe also came from the factory with black headlight pockets. So it certainly was not restricted to the so-called "faster cars."
