If someone had hit-and-run me, I'd chase 'em down and show them what the tire iron is really for...

When he hit me the first thing was "NOT THE HOOD!!!" Im going through the insurance deal right now. They better not total it!! I havent check inside the engine bay yet but it seems to me that only the fender took the hit. Just when im about to do the LS1 swap.

lol I don't think they would total it over a damaged fender. At least thats just one peice that will need to be replaced/painted. These things happen we just have to learn to deal with them. That's life.

Im going to go to the body shop that painted my car. They are really good at there work and plus we known him forever already. I might get the 92 ground effect for the front since im there already.

The tires on running are the Yokohama ES 100. Really good tire had them since the first day i got my car back in 2003.

=( The poor camaro!

You're lucky the guy was cooperative though. He could have given you a looootttt of grief and made it hell to get that fixed.

Let us know what your insurance says about it. I'm sure it'll be fine.

do you have the title showing how much you paid for it? also you could say it is a collector car. if its an rs that doesnt help. just see what happens and then think about what you are going to do about it.

I have all the info on what parts i bought and how much i paid for the car. Either way im not going to let them total it. I spend to much time and money to get this far and i still got alot more to go. People say im just puting money in a hole (camaro) I think different. This is my hobby and i love working on it.

Just be thankful you don't have candy paint.... that should be a relatively easy fix.

What the point of having insurance then you know? Im not going to back down. I wasnt on planning of covering the damage with bondo NO WAY!! hit a bump and it all comes off LOL. im going to call him again tomorrow to see whats up

if worse comes to worse get the guy to give you like 500 bucks and you could do it yourself. just find a good junkyard fender (or look in the classifieds here) and put it on yourself. pocket the rest of the money and buy something nice for her

actually even if the insurance does cover it, get a nice fat check in the mail and do the same thing with the nice fender off another car and get something nice for her. look at it as an opportunity.

for the work to be done correct, a new fender will need to be put on and any adjacent(sp?) panels will need to have some color blended on them and then all those panels will need to be recleared. that means the bumper cover, hood and door will need to be recleared. this is only because the base coat that is being sprayed on the new fender will not match your paint 100% and the painter will blend the new color into your old color. this is how small damages can add up quick. This is also how someone in you shoes can bank a few bucks. I dont know how picky you are with your car but you could find a body shop that can analyize your paint and then create more paint based off of that. I use to do that at the shop I worked at. we would do that for colors that where either custom or so far off the color code for that car. Its basically a special cmaera that takes a pic of the paint and then a computer created a new mixture to get the color to match your color.
Then just have a boneyard fender sprayed and leave it at that. get the damage appraised and ask for a check and tell your insurance company that you will take the car to the shop in the spring or something and you will have it fixed on your own. take the check and run.

yea take the check and run. go to local boneyard with your fender and go find one that matches the color the best. youll have a bunch of money to mess around with. if some one looks like theyre going to hit me and it would be their fault i dont even care (especially in the civic) and just keep going like normal. but then again i work at a bodyshop where i can do the work for free but still my mom pocketed 500 bucks after getting hit in the parking lot. fixed it for 30 bucks in paint at school. she gave me 100 to use on my car

classic insurance is sooo cheap, and they cover a high value for the car. they say you can drive on an average of like 3000 a year i believe, but they dont check.

Its very cheap for the classic insurance and they say that i can drive as much as i want just as long its not my daily driver and it has to be kept in a locked garage. I forgot what the insurance is called but its only going to be 231 dollars a year. Great stuff. I think im going to go do that junk yard thing. Maybe with the extra money ill get the new front body kit 92 year

Dude, where did you get this info?

Hagerty Insurance Agency just qouted me $144 per year for a 1984 Firebird with a declared value of $5000. NO DEDUCTIBLE! The limits on driving are "not daily driven"
