Harwood Cowl Induction

I understand that Cowl Induction works by letting the air travel up the hood and then a slit in the back takes it in. I've never seen a Harwood hood in person, so I'm wondering if there is something inside the engine bay that connects to the air outlet that brings the air to the throttle body, I see how these could work on carb'd engines because of their circle filter, but I don't see how this would work on a FI one. Or does the Cowl have nothing like the connection to throttle body like the ram air system has and does it just cool the engine with outside air. Pics would be greatly appreciated.

i have tbi so it helped me a little, no numbers but seat of pants she likes having a bit of air back there, you could fab up something to route it to your tb but it be one hell of a fab job with tpi, it did however lighten up the front end quite a bit and the car runs alot cooler with it, you can literally shut it down walk away come back and the hot air is running out of it, my buddy has a 2" on his vert and when your in it you can get your hand up above the windshield and feel the heat

I'm running a 4" outlaw show series and it looks sick

they can be made to seal to the throttle body or carb. but they are mostly used for motor clearance and engine bay cool as previoulsy stated.

^^ What they said.

If you are using it with carb or TBI, then it's for swapping cooler air with warmer air giving some more power. For a closed intake system such as the TPI, it's mainly used for clearance.

They are also one hell of a windshield defroster.

I put in a pic on this thread in Body and Interior, wouldn't let me post again. The Dodge Challenger concept has an airbox right at the TB, which mates to the hood with a gasket. Even though the Dodge uses forward facing scoops, the same setup could draw air from a cowl scoop with a pan under it.

So it's not quite as easy to use cowl induction for TPI, but it can be done. Ram Air hoods are also really nice, a friend has one, looks way better than in pictures. I am torn between the two...
