you must be really confused...or using the wrong names, because there is a difference between wheel spacers, and wheel adapters
wheel spacers vary in thickness, and slide over the bolts to give you room to play with. This would be what you would refer to as 'putting stress further out on the bolts' and in theory, yes they would...pic one are wheel spacers.
Pic 2 are wheel adapters, which vary in thickness as well, but bolt onto the existing bolts (like a wheel would) and then give you new bolts to bolt the wheel onto. These are safe, and do not add stress to the existing bolts, and they give the wheel a new set to bolt onto.
...hope I was clear and accurate...if I messed something up, someone else can probably chime in

81 and sunny today!
The pollen was unreal though. My car was covered after sitting outside for just twenty minutes.

This "effect" is suppose to make it look similiar to a drawing:

so......she's a gold digger eh?
as for this one, it's a little embarrassing, but still a fun pic, my dad said he paced off 108 ft...which isnt too bad for an LG4 going uphill (yes I did it in front of my parents house...that's what they get when they ask me to come home for the weekend)

Here are some pictures of my newly aquired '86 T/A. Needs paint and that hitch removed (Used for a bike rack. Not used to tow.) Mint interior and excellent drivetrain. One owner 71,000 miles.

Here's my 89 IROC Convertible!
Ok Guyz here is my 89 IROC Convertible!! Just cleaned it up! Yes all original here, less than 40,000 miles here! Everybody always keeps asking me if its for sale on the street. I guess I would sell it if the price was right! I love this car, drives great. The weather is great here in Chicago driving out at Lakeshore Drive!!!

she may not be as pretty as some of yours, but i still love her anyway....goin on our 5 year anniversary this christmas eve.
and yes, i know my car is a 1988 with the 90-92 dash. i like doing crazy custom things that people tell me can't be done...and yes, all the gauges, SES light, and even the seatbelt and parking brake lights work. along with the directional lights and high-beam indicator. sorry, but that dash is like my pride n joy project on that car....after the 3.27 BW 9-bolt swap i did a couple years ago
