Im gettin my car ready for paint but not sure what 2 do with it?? It's a 1992 z28, jus added a bolt on harwood 4 inch cowl, gonna be gettin some 18's( glossy black with polished lip) on it, 9.5 rear 8.5 fronts. I already got a shaved door kit hardwired into my alarm so its gonna be gettin shaved handles, keyhole and antenna, not sure if side markers should get shaved too. Right now I'm thinking of painting original purple haze metallic but was thinking of leaving the hood black to contrast with the wheels. If anyone could do some photoshops that would be great since i suck at photoshopping, option #2 i was interested in doin was painting the entire car purple and painting sum black heritage stripes on with silver or charcoal gray pinstripping around the stripes. I am actually really open to any ideas since I just want my car to really stand out, car doesn't have to be Purple haze so any replies would be great. these are the wheels I might be gettin http://www.adrwheels.com/wheels/?sfID1=12&sfID2=59 ,but black, 1.5 inch lip front and ithink it was 2 or 2.5 rear all i need know are the spacers, i was told it would clear with 1.5 inch spacers all around.

 

I am not sure whose car this is but I really like it and it sorta resembles the second option i posted of how i want my car to look.... xcept i am thinkin of adding a trenz billet grille too.. would be great if someone could please photoshop this image purple haze and that outline around the black stripes silver or charcoal gray

 

i have thought that maybe a blue with the heritage stripes in a silver. thats what i have thought about doing to my car.

 

you know it's tough decision to make because alot of colors are great on third gen what to paint will I'll go with blue but I think dark silver is one of the best

 

Some of your ideas sound very similar to what I did with my IROC-Z, except I went with green. But the hood is black, the rear hatch and middle part of the wing is black, and soon the spokes of the wheels will be black (with polished lips). On the bodyparts though, we didnt just do a straight black, we used black with green pearl so it accents the body color better in the sunlight. Maybe you might want to consider playing around with that idea, you could even add pearls to the stripes you wanna do. Here's a bad picture since you cant see any of the pearl, but just to give you an idea (excuse the body damage hahaha):



I think you should go through E-bay looking at different colors of cars just to get ideas. You don't have to get an OEM color like you said, you could get a newer factory color, or even another make factory color, even something custom. There are so many nice colors out there.

 

that idea of adding some pearl or primary color flakes to the stripes sounds pretty good, i had thought about that but thought it wasn't possible, anybody have any pics of pearl coat over black??? BTW what wheels are you running CrazyHawaiian, I love how the wheels don't stick out past the fenders, and how much of a drop was done to your car ??

this is another model of wheels I liked but I am not sure if these would fit... +15 offset, anyone know which would best fit in our cars?? And if these could be made to fit , how much of a spacer would be needed?? also 8.5 front and 9.5 rear except these are 2.5 lip front and 3 inch lip rear. And the car i should have atleast 1 pic of the car except i need to upload it from my diital cam but 1 problem is i lost the usb cable .. So any volunteers for some photoshop pics ????

 

The car painted a metallic black or a white would look pretty good with those. You're gonna need a bigger set of 4 wheel disc brakes so you don't look like a goof though.

Me personally, I would go with black with white heritage stripes

EDIT: just saw that you have a 4" cowl . . .with that information, I'm not so sure now.

 

yea its a harwood 4 onch bolt-on just got it 2 weeks ago and was trimmed and fitted this past weekend, I love the look it gave my car... Dats wat gave me the idea of the car 1 color and hood another since the hood is gelcoated black and the rest of the car original purple haze color...... Imma try and get dat cable to post sum pics of the car

 

I'm not usually a fan of black wheels, however......I really like the look of all black cars. So I guess I'm saying that a metallic black would look awesome and I think the silver lip would add a great contrast.

 

Yeah, with that color scheme right now you've got the Mopar thing going.

 

kwik update: I just got my new bucket seats delivered yesterday n they're actually better than expected.Now all i need is a steering wheel , I'll post seat pics later ...

 

I think that the bright blue metallic paint that gm is using on the colbalts, and SS pick-ups is a really good choice for a color. Not sure if the stripes would look good with that big of a hood, but maybe a single stripe? As far as the wheels go, the styles you are looking at are cool, but you should really order some wheels that are designed to fit your car. With the offsets on our cars we can have a nice fat lip on both the front and rear wheels. good luck with all the choices.
