H4 Conversions
Hi,
Im having some issues with the lenses themselves. I have cracked three light assembles since the conversion. My first light was an Eurolite AngelEye and using the bulbs that came with the lights. Initially I figured it was impact related even though there were no marks. Replaced it with another Eurolite assembly again with the supplied bulbs. Was washing the car off one night after a good drive and the second the water touched the lense it cracked. Ok I figured its heat related and installed a 3rd lense but tossed out the supplied bulbs and installed a set of PIAA Extreme Whites figuring a quality bulb would some how produce less heat. Wrong lol. Cracked another one last night without any water etc. No impact...no water or moisture inside or outside of lense...just cracked. Checked the wiring over and over today with no problems. Checked to make sure all wires are correctly pinned to the right location and checked the wire postions on the relays. Anybody else having these issues? Is there a better quality assembly other than Eurolites that is still clear ((diamond cut))? Would adding a "vent hole" at the back of the light vent enough heat to solve my issues? Starting to consider a full HID setup as HIDs produce considerbly less heat. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I don't know, I'm currently looking at buying something for my car.. hella makes a glass unit that looks very nice, however more expensive then the eurolites. hid's would be definatly superior.
From my experiences its either hit or miss with E-bay enclosures. I've had ones that cracked on me, even had one melt. Majority of them are low quality enclosures, some are even plastic. Top quality enclosures like the ones Hella makes are 100% glass inside and out (the reflector inside the enclosure its whats important when it comes to actual light output). As far as the bulbs, you need to pay attention to the wattages the bulbs run at. Higher wattage bulbs run hotter, lower wattage runs cooler. I prefer to run the lower wattage high quality bulbs. I consider those PIAA bulbs to be good quality, they are low wattage and great output. In your situation I would either buy another cheap set from a different manufacturer (hit or miss on both quality and beam pattern), or buy the good stuff and never have to worry about it again (and get a better beam pattern/better output).

Ive actually considered the Hellas but really like the "diamond cut" look. I love my PIAAs and the wattage is stock. I think I may try one more enclosure set but it just gets pricey with living in Canada while most suppliers are in the USA. Shipping, duty and brokerages add up fast lol. Im still gonna try to source out a local supplier of true HIDs first and if the price works then Ill do it. Appreciate the replies and am a little relieved to be not the only one cracking assemblies.
