Window trim.

I have chrome trim around my passenger and drivers side windows. I don't have any pics to show you guys, and I haven't seen another bird out there with the same stuff, but it looks factory. Even the top of my doors have it. So when you shut the door, it goes around the whole window. It seems like it's part of the seal in the door jam, to seal the window when it's up. So my question is, do I have to take the weather strip off WITH the chrome trim? Or is there a way to take the chrome trim off without damaging the strip. If anyone knows what I am talking about, and can find a pic, I'd really appreciate it. I can't find a pic anywhere.
