Opinions on Motor Colors
I'm rebuilding the motor again so I have a chance to paint it again. Heres a before pic with the block black, heads alumnium, and intake black (plenum and base).
I can either paint the block alumnium or red.
If its alumnium the intake will have to stay black (an alumnium block would look so cool).
If its red (which I've always wanted a red block) I don't know what color to paint the intake. The intake will not be red.
Keep in mind I have a red Moroso pan, Red MSD box, red MSD wires, red dizzy cap. The throttle body is alumnium with a black cover, the headers are black and I have black strut mounts...
Opinions on what you would like best?
(I still don't know what to do with the CAI...)

I think it looks great the way it is!
If you paint your block aluminium it will either look fake or people will be commenting on how cool it is that you have an aluminium block. Then you'll have to tell tell them that it's steel and you just wanted the look.
If you do paint it red I think you basically have to paint the oil pan too unless you can find the exact same color.

Thanks for the compliments all.
I'm not worried about explaining myself about my block and I think I'm going to leave the intake and plenum black so its between alumnium and red for the block.
The black looks good but I've already had it once!
Anyone else have a suggestion? The plan is to final clean and paint on Saturday!!

I like the red block idea. Always have. That's my plan for mine when the "rebuild" happens. It'll be a while though.
...as for aluminum, well, I painted my iron heads aluminum/silver because I liked the look. People ask me all the time if they're aluminum. Had I known they would fool people I probably wouldn't have painted 'em like that. Bah, it's not a big deal though. Do whatcha want.....
....but I still say red.

Think the black intake will look okay with the red and alumnium?
Whats everyone think about painting the block red and possibly the lower intake base alumnium?

Another vote for black. You don't see 1/2 of it anyway when it's all bolted together and in the car, and everything else that's not black will stand out more (coated headers, alum. intake, accessory drive, etc etc).
