Which hood on an 85 to use???????

Here is my dilema. I have an 85 Trans Am that needs a hood. I have an 83 hood with the ram air system that is available for me or do I go and find the stock 85 T/A hood and put on the car? The car will be put up for sale this spring after new paint and interior.

Will the 83 Hood kill the resale value of the 85?

Will the 83 Hood with ram air be a plus for the car since it is a carbureted model?

What price would an 85 T/A fetch in the Midwest Area (Ohio rust area)?

T-tops great shape
Very little surface rust underneath
5-speed trans
LG-4 all stock
New Maroon Base coat Clear coat paint
Grey Interior should be nice and clean when all recovered
New decals
130,000 miles
Stock wheels with new Daytona Radials
Power Windows & Power Locks

If you are talking about the "power bulge" formula hood, I'd put it on.
Most thirdgen owners prefer the look of this style hood to the other types (flat, vented)
as you mentioned, the induction setup is a plus. unless you are selling to a "numbers matching stock stickler" you may actually get more money out of the car.

as for how much it is worth, I dunno about your area, but here in the arid desert nice examples sell for between $1500 and $3000

Power bulge!

I stuck an '84 TA Power Bulge on my '91. I like it lots.

I think I will stick with the power bulge hood with the factory ram air induction setup. Thanks for the pictures. That made my mind up for me. My wife wants to drive this car after I get it put together for a while until the right offer comes around for the car.

I love when someone asks is that car for sale and you say by the way it is!!!! They usually don't think it is so they ask. The wifes says she likes it maybe better than our 83 in the garage and I just keep saying no way.

Has anyone else got pictures of any others with that hood on a 85-92 Trans Am???

Same car but more angles:

I don't have the "flapper" that came with this hood working so what I do have is the factory block off plate (installed in the rainy season) and I take it out in the summer for either a vent for heat to escape or a pipe for cold air in (depending on how you look at it).

Lastly, the car you are describing for sale I would start at 4-5K depending on the amount of rust and other factors.
