Hail storm damages my 92 firebird...

Well, on thursday night I was at work and my car was stuck outside. We had baseball sized hail and a tornado that came through. My firebird now has about 60-70 "dents" all over it.. It really looks like the hood took most of the abuse, but the front end paint has "spiderwebbed" because of this.. There are dents in the sail panels as well as on the spoiler too.. My insurance company will pay for the damages under comprehensive and I have a $0 deductible.. I was wondering, do you guys think that they will make me get a new hood or would I just have to be sent to a painless dent removal place..?? I hope they make me get a new hood, this way I can get my ram air hood finally..

sorry to hear about your car. looking at the bright side, time to change colour or other things you may like to change. for the insurance side, haven't happen something like that to me yet (no tornado here). but heard that insurance companies will do their best to do things very cheaply. so in your case, insist what you deserve under the conditions of your insurance policy. sometimes if you want something done more than what your original car looks like, then negotiate so that you can only pay a little than having to buy it yourself in the future. so find out what you really like for your car now. just my .02 anyway.

From my experience usually the insurance company will make you get 2 or 3 quotes for the repair work and then report it to them and they will give you an amount based on those numbers! Usually the smaller of the quotes! So here's what I do....go the the MOST expensive places you know of around there...GM would be one good and get 3 high priced quotes from them! Then the insurance company will give you more than enough money and you'll be able to take it to a "cheaper" shop to get the car fixed AND you'll have enough to get your new hood!!

I work in a bodyshop so trust me. The insurance company is only going to pay to return your car to PRE-ACCIDENT CONDITION. Meaning that if you want to change ANYTHING, its going to come out of your pocket. If the hail was as big as you say, your lucky your car didn't total.

The hail was that big but the storm was only like 45 minutes.. I didn't even think there was damage until the next day.. Well anyways, I have pictures to show that the car was in perfect condition before the storm.. There are so many damaged cars out here that i'm pretty sure they won't doubt me at all..
