SS VS "BIG BLOCK" HOOD

Ok, I would really like to see the differences between the two aforementioned hoods. They are at http://www.americansportscar.com . If you have pics of these hoods I'd really like to see them. I notice the thing in the middle of the scoop of the "big block" but I really cant tell which one looks better, and most importantly, i dont understand why the big block hood is much cheaper.

I just got my Big Block Hood last week, I think that it looks more aggressive than the SS hood. As far as why it is cheaper than the SS, I have no clue.

I'd say it's either the production costs involved with making 2 styles of SS hood (TPI and TBI/Carbed) or if they sell more SS hoods than big blocks that could have an effect on the price, you know, supply and demand

I say go with the TURBO hood that looks better than either SS or BIG BLOCK.

I think if you are going to go with anything, go with either a nice Cowl Induction or an SS hood. I think the big block hoods look too bulky and the turbo hoods just look like crap. Cars look "ghetto fabulous" with a turbo hood. You need to go with gold daytons and curb feelers with a turbo hood. A cowl or an SS hood have nice sleek lines. Just my 2 cents.

i agree... ss not the Bigblock, it is too tall and bulky looking. or the cowl. those are by far the best looking, the cowls are great ( i like 2 1/2 or 3") on our cars, and the SS keeps the camaro look and ppl reconize it as a CAMARO hood.

just my .02 though, get what YOU want, it is your car, not mine, i don't have to drive it.

i like the bigblock hood. i wouldn't get it for my camaro though cuz i only have a crappy 305 tbi auto. if you had a fast camaro that hood would be great. I called them like almost a year ago asking about that hood. I was under the impression that there would be an inlet in the front and it would ast as a 'ram air' type deal, but unfortunately there is no airbox for it and it is not functional ... The guy I was talking to said that it would be functional as a cowl hood though. i definately like the look.

Not many people realize that the SS hood is functional for both TPI/TBI/Carb whereas the Big Block hood is not a functional ram air or cowl hood at all... its just for looks unless you have the guts to cut out the front and/or rear of the bulge and put some custom mesh on the front to make it functional...

thats one reason its cheaper right there...

another is its not that popular because its not a functional ram air or cowl.

Hey Red the big block hood is a cowl hood! The back is wide open. It is fun to watch the rain get suck in on a wet day. The only thing in the back is a brace.

I kinda like the regular cowl induction hood the best. It's cleaner.
