Rust around hatch strip?

The strip of metal around my hatch on my car is starting to rust.Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to restore it?

I just sanded it smooth masked the area and used the flat black rustoleom.

Same here. I tried sanding it a bit and it's nice and shiny underneath that black paint. I'll eventually take the hatch off, sand the whole black strip, mask the window and repaint it.

Thanks for the replys.I was thinking about sanding it or I was going to try some steel wool. What grit sandpaper did you use,and did you sand it dry or wet?

I use Krylon semi-flat black on mine (as well as my t-top exterior parts, the top divider strip, and my door locks). Gives it a more factory look than straight flat.

Testors (model paint) has flat black paint in a pen. Sand it and 'fill it in'

The paint pen works great for antennas that the paint chipped off in places too...
