feedback on rim cleaner

feedback on rim cleaner

hey anyone have any history of using the aluminum brite wheel cleaner which is an acid based to get down to the bare aluminum on stock 88ish wheels??
i wanna get down to bare aluminum so the wheels shine very nicely

anyone have any feedback or advice to give poor ol Tom :-D thanks

Personally, I didn't like it. If you sand the rim down by hand, it looks alot better, but I foumd if you used the acid, swirl marks would form where the acid had been sitting for just a few seconds. But if you really want to get it to bare aluminum, consider sand blasting...

Sandblasting doesn't work on aluminum, it leaves pits.

If you sandblast the paint and corrosion off, then sand it by hand it smooths out.

It's alot easier than what I have done to my rims, starting out at a 180 grit then moving up to 2000, then polishing with a rubbing compound. It takes about 6 hours per rims.. Give or take a few breaks..

I had good results with Eagle One Aluminum Mag Wheel Cleaner... and the Firebird / Knight Rider TurboCast wheels...

It cleaned the brake dust and gunk really good... a brush while it's cleaning and then spray off with water... the aluminum will be clean, but not shiny (the machined parts) but it's a good start if you want to polish them yourself.
