SMC hood + airplane stripper

I have an SMC hood that someone has spray painted over and over again. It will literally take me days to peel this paint off with sandpaper rolls, not to mention the ammount of the sandpaper it will take peeling this crap. My question is will paint stripper eat up the SMC? I'm paranoid to even spray it on and test a spot because I don't want it destroying it.
