Rear GTA lense black

I know i've seen this before but can't seem to find anything about it.
Some of the black inside my rear GTA lenses appears to be peeling. What can I do about repairing this? How do I go about it?

Re: Rear GTA lense black

Whats happening is the grid and the outermost lens are separating. Its not fixable as far as I know. Everyone just replaces the whole taillight.

You might be able to to take apart the taillight so you can get to the back of the lense then try shooting it with a heatgun. However, that will probably make it worse before it makes it better.

dont use the heat gun, i tried it a while back and it just makes things worse.

i always wondered, if you got some clear real thin liquid glue, maybe you could get it to run between the lens and the black and fill the gap, maybe it would turn it black again. ive got a few sets of crap lights i was going to try it on but i haven't had the time.

Re: Rear GTA lense black

I thought I read on here somewhere, can't find, that someone took it apart, masked, and painted. Am I seeing things?
This is what mine's doing.

Re: Rear GTA lense black

here is what i would do , either buy new ones, or tint your old ones and see how they come out. Either go buy vht nightshade from summit for like 10 bucks a can or the pro way it to take black paint and mix it with some clear so a few coats and then do two coats of clear . And then polish and clean em up . But since you have the 85-90 style just buy new ones their easy to find .

Re: Rear GTA lense black

oops thought you had the older style gta , but still what about doing the tint to them . i had to buy two sets to get good ones. I think i have a good left side and a bad right , but its a toss up with the 91-92s .
