What are the best tires?
I'm getting 18x9 Chrome Irocs on my car and I want to know what would be a great deal for tires. I am on a budget though, I don't want to spend over 150 per tire.

What do you want to accomplish with those tires? Drag, cornering, mileage? Either way you better keep saving your money because those tires will cost a lot more than $150 each. By going to the 18-inch wheel you put yourself in the world of high performance low profile tires. Beyond that you just happened to choose an unusual size which will cost you more yet. You would have been better off choosing a wheel that would fit a mass produced tire from a regular production car. But I suppose that's neither here nor there.
Yokohama will likely have some of the better prices. The A520 is a good tire but will get slippery at about 1/2 wear. The BF Goodrich Comp ZR is a good all around tire. Nittos are reasonably priced. Most other tires are going to cost more money than you're willing to spend.

You can get Kumho ECSTA Supra 712, size 265/35WR18 for $150 a piece at www.tirerack.com I was looking into getting these tires myself when I get 18"s this summer. If you check the customer comments on these tires, everyone says they're great for the price too. They also rate excellent or superior in every catagory.

I've got the ECSTA Supra 712's on my car (Stock 16 inch wheels) and the handling is incredible for a $75 tire. I only gto fronts, not rears (didnt need em yet). I was very impressed. When I first got em I tried some stupid manuver that I would have usually gone flying over the curb doing, but my front tires stuck like glue, my rears gave out though. The wet handling is also very good. I'd reccomend them to anyone. I know I'll be getting them (if they come in the right size) when I get a set of ROH ZS 17x9.5's.
like Scott_92RS I have 2 Ecsta Supra tires on my stock rims. But mine are on the back, and the effect is the opposite. The rear never kicks out EVER, so I can fly through those corners, but the problem is I have Goodyear American Eagles on the front, and all of a sudden going through that corner I have severe understeer. the rear stays where it's going but the front decides otherwise, I really need to go buy some ecsta supra 712's for the front. 245/50ZR16 tires for $89 a piece hell I'd buy them again. Z-Rated!

I am a dealer for Kumho, and any tire you find or want, I can beat the price for my fellow third gen owners!! Let me know what you want and I can get it!! As far as 245/50/ZR16's, I can get those all day long for less than you can get them from tire rack or discount tire. If anyone is interested, email me at CarNDrvr@aol.com.

i have kumho 712's on my 18's. i have 225/40 and 275/35 and they seem to stick well. i don't normally fly around corners because if i hit a bump i bottom out. i need to get my drop spindles on, then i'll see if i am a road racer. the tires were 675 mounted and balanced at discount tire. the only reason i bought the kumhos is because they are the cheapest 18" tires there are.
