A$$hole Body shop messed up my freakin 92' camaro

I bought this used 92' camaro hood with louvers and it was in beautiful condition. Until then my stock hood had these mysterious bump and dents. He painted the hood first before installing it. Waited about 4 hours next to a vent and heat lamp. After it was all done it was installed. He put this compound over the paint and did it in like 10-20 sec. I really didnt get upset because i paid $100.00 for paint and everything. Its been 6 months now and it has a very weird image when u look at it, If u wash it it looks dull instead of the beautiful shine. I've tried wax's and Armor all exterior polish and nothing works. Hell iven bird dooty leaves a mark when dried up in the paint. What can i do to remedy this problem, besides painting the whole damn thing again. Anyone had this problem and found a way to repair it, please help.

I just finished a 89 supra's hood which was really bad. She wanted a new paint job but now she doesn't. I am not sure this would work for you but goto a local auto store and buy 1500 grit sandpaper, (try this on a small part of your car) You are going to want to try wetsanding it, Wet-sand that small part and afterwards buff it out with a mild compound. Blue Coral has a really good one. Let us know what happens.

Did the guy put a clear coat(s) on it?
Cause a cheap paint job will fade without it. I call those types of paint jobs: Good-Nuff-to-Sell-The-Damn-Car-Paint-Job.
Was that what you got? I hope not.

I agree with cruise12. wetsand and buff. You should always start with the finest (least coarse) and work you way back. Both processes remove paint. So try a fine buffing compound like 3m perfect-it fine cut (available at R&S Strauss)and try that first. You can use it by hand so you don't need a buffer. If that is not getting the results you want, try wet sanding with 2000 or 1500 grit. Don't panic. After wet sanding it will look dull, but use the compound after you sand and it WILL shine. Remember when you wet sand you should only sand in one direction.

If it was a cheap job and it looks faded after 6 months then i think they painted it with enamel paint.....Its really cheap and its a temporary fix and about 6 months to a year later it will fade.....If it doesnt have a clear coat then dont wetsand it too much

EVERYONE IS RIGHT. WETSANDING IS THE WAY TO GO. EITHER HAVE A RUNNING HOSE OR SOAPY WATER AND KEEP THE SAND PARE WET. SAND IN ONE DIRECTION. WORK SLOW, IN SMALL SECTIONS. USE 3M PRODUCTS TO REMOVE ANY SWIRL MARKS AFTER YOU BUFF. YOU WILL BE SO HAPPY. TAKE A LOOK AT MY CARS SHINE ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER BEING WET SANDED.

Well all i know is that they use PPG paint. When i say bird dooty, i mean for example if theres a bird stain on the hood and i wash it off(scrubbing with a cloth) theres like a residue mark on the hood, as if the bird dooty was still there.
