Polishing/restoring GTA rims...
The plan that I have for the refinsihing of my GTA rims is to first polish the aluminum metal ring that cirlces the rim. Would the proper way to do this be to start out with an abrasive pad and polish, and then gradually work down to finer sandpapers? I was wondering if anyone has tried this method on their GTA wheels.
After the metal trim, I want to repaint the gold mesh area. I am assuming that all I do is sand the area down to smooth it out and to make it accept the new paint properly(basically removing the clearcoat). Again, anyone out there try this before?

You don't want to use an abrssive on GTA rims, they have a clearcoat. Use a simple polish. I on the other hand just removed the clearcoat so it would be easier to clean and maintain.
When you repaint the center the best thing to do is to have them powder coated, it is not that expensive and the results last forever.

Does anybody know how much it would be just to take it to a body shop and have it done? I don't have all the tools necessary to do it myself, since I am only 16. I was thinking about having them powdercoated black. As of right now they are black, but they neeed to be redone. Do you think black or gold GTA rims would look better on a red TA?
Go with black, the gold is ok but the black will really make it stand out nicely,as for doing it yourself, you can do it,just look in the tech articles on this site and the stuff you need will be cheap,if you devote a whole weekend to them they could be shining like new, plus the shops usually charge $100 a wheel i believe.
