Wet sanding?

My car has no clear coat on it. Will wet sanding work to remove really tough stains that no color restorer could? I basically want to remove the surface layer of paint and seal it will some kind of treatment that will prevent stains in the first place. The paint is so sensitve right now that all the horizontal surfaces are stained from water and bird crap. The sides and other vertical surfaces are alright though.

I'm worried about removing too much paint and exposing the old paint that's under it, or worse, exposing primer. I dunno why the hell it was repainted in the first place anyway. There are spots where the old paint is visible and it looks pretty good. Even shines better than the new paint.

yes it will make it look better, but you have a high chance of breaking through the paint. especially on edges. id say either go get it pro-buufed or buff it yourself. it basically does the same thing, but not as fast.

I have already buffed it once myself with an orbital Sander and Turtle Wax Color Restorer. The polish worked well initially but it couldn't get the really deep stains out. It left nice deep shine which is disappearing fast now.

Should I try something less drastic like rubbing compound? Will it remove those stains that the color restorer couldn't reach?

Update - I tried 3M 1500 grit rubbing compound on all horizontal surfaces. The stuff works great and is easy to apply but the deep stains still refuse to disappear. I suppose if I applied the rubbing compound with an orbital buffer, the tough stains would have disappeared too. Now I need to seal the paint from the elements. Any ideas as to what works best?
