84 TA rims?¿?
hey i was wondering if my rims have some kind of clearcoat on them or what....cuz they are kinda cloudy looking...but in a couple places where this stuff has chipped off it looks REALLY shiny.....and i was wondering if it was clearcoat or whatever...could i get the rest of it off?? and if so how??...and also IF i did strip it what could i use to protect it?

Yes they are clearcoated and it's a PITA to get the clearcoat off to polish them. I stripped mine and polished and I protect them with carnabu wax instead of a clear coat. This allows me to repolish at any time. I have heard that Easy-Off Oven cleaner will strip the clear but I haven't tried it.
Here is a link to how I polished mine. Be careful it may be dangerous on your car.....but it worked for me.

I was told aircraft paint stripper will take the stuff right off and then just take the wheels to a car wash and use the high pressure hose to rinse. You will have to remove the tires of course and I would were some nice rubber gloves while diong this. Then you can just polish them with regulare polishing compound or try to sand them to a mirror like shine.
