Wipers skipping on windsheild

I guess it might be from rain-X that I applied a long time ago, but how do I clean my windsheild so that my wipers do not skip across the glass in the rain? the wipers are brand new.

Did you make sure that you have the right size blades?

Also Rain-X might help alot. Usually the wipers start sticking because they are new and the windshield is just dry.

Re: Wipers skipping on windsheild

I would imagine two reasons.

1) The wipers will skip if they arent "lubricated" with water. My wipers do this when it starts to rain, but after a few wipes, they stop and work smooth. I too have applied rain-x a while back (maybe a year ago) but i doubt that would cause them to skip.

2) You may have installed them upside. Do they skip in both directions? ie: up AND down, or just one?

Replacing the wiping arms will fix the issue. I think the cause of the skipping is the springs in the wipers arms are worn out.

Clean the winshield real good. Try to find the white scrubby pads that say "safe for china and porcelain", they work absolutely awesome. I use them on all my glass!!!

Re: Wipers skipping on windsheild

i had a problem with this too. whatever wipers i used seemed to chatter and skip on the window like it was sticky or something. i bought some piaa super silicone wiper blades and it fixed the problem.. they also last a year or two. they are expensive though.
