Ok i got an opinion question here.

what do you guys think? Should i add a grandsport vette fender stripe to the fender? Its popular with 4th gen guys but i dont see it on thirdgens.

I basically got the wheels from this car and the idea from this car as well

Yay or nay? i think it would look awesome with red fender stripes just like that vette but then again, this car is screaming poor mans vette already... i have vette wheels, soon to have vette front brakes, and now vette fender stripes? SHould i just stop and sell it and get a darn vette already?? let me know what you think.

 

dude those wheels look awesome on your car and i think the stripes would look cool from a side shot like that vette... but otherwise out of place. maybe a different type of red stripe like a hockey stick stripe, i think those look sick

 

Personally I think if you had the 91-92 hood blisters the stripe would look great. But I don't know if they would fit the look with the louvered hood.

 

I may be getting a SS hood or 2" glasstek cowl hood since the HSR doesnt clear the stock hood that well. I may beable to play with some kind of stripe with either of those two setups

 

I think with the cowl hood it would look great.

Just something about that hood with the stripes just doesn't seem like it would work.

I've been wanting to do a GS themed Camaro someday in the future.

 

I think that they would look just fine on there. With some bigger brakes they would look even better. The original Grand Sports had flat C4 hoods, and they pulled it off great!

Go to the hardware store and get some red 2" tape and put it on there, stand back and see if you like it! Cost you nothing.

I say do it. I've been thinking of doing something similar on mine to go with the all red tail lights and the red "tpi" rear emblem, both of which you have as well.

Personally, I don't think the GS fender stripes fit your car. Not that adding something to "set-off" the black is a bad thing, its just I'm not a fan of those particular stripes. Your interior looks red from the pics, am I right? I think the SS hood (if you go with it) would look great with the traditional 2 stripes or maybe a single like the 25th anniversary TA. Or leave it alone cuz I think it looks pretty damn good as-is.

 

i say go for it but then i am kinda bias i think it just adds just a little something to set it apart and if yall are wondering yes the stripes are two different colors the first one is red and the second is blue but if you looke at it like three stripes it is red white and blue also sorry about the mess in the second pic i was changing out the interior

haha yeah the car could use new lights..they are all fogged out but new lights wouldnt look good with a stone chipped up front end..the car could use a paint job. Its not a show car tho, i built it to run but slowly getting into keeping it much nicer/cleaner now that its seeing limited usage.

my next set of 'appearance' mods will be new lights up front and maybe clear side markers

Yes my interior is still stock red for the moment. when i pull it out for the roll bar/cage, i'll change it up to mostly black with red accented seats. it should look very nice


EDIT: that chop looks nice! that pic is dark so you cant see the brake calipers well but they are bright red so it will accent it all well

You know i think it will look great in red but what if you somehow color matched the wheels with them and had two grey ones that would look good as hell cause it wouldnt be too loud looking.

I retract my previous opinion. That looks pretty damn good afterall. Even better with an SS style hood.

I dont know if i'll do a SS hood or not i'm still kinda liking the fiberglass pin on 2.5" cowl from glasstek since its light, cheaper and gives me the clearance i need yet not too loud

I also reallly like this idea. I thought about it and only if i could get some charcoal colored ones that were close to my current wheel color, i think that look good. else it may be alittle off color and look weird. Definatley not as loud but the car is 'loud' as is, red stripes would fit the bold character. I dont think i could go wrong either way

 

Agreed maybe if you take it to a paint store you can get it color matched and have a sticker made not sure who would make it but its possible red would look good too with your red black theme just could maybe pull a little wheel color in there it would be outstanding

It does, I'm very impressed with it, and it has the horsepower to back it up to boot. Wanted to do something for the guy because he's selling it, so I made him a sig pic of it so he could remember it....

 

Id like em in a dark grey, but they have to be on both sides. I know a local guy with a 4th gen who has em just on the drivers and it looks retarded, i know on the original they were only on the drivers side but it looks better on both sides.

 

I'd do the GS stripes. I'd do them in either the same color as the wheels, or I'd do them in flat black.

 

First of all, that car is frikkin clean!!!

Second, I think if you do, do it. Yo will need to repaint your calipers the same color to tie in the scheme.

I think it will look VERY good... And I am picky as hell about my car...

 

I think it could work if done right like on the blue 3dgen above. I think that one works though, because of the other accents. So I think it would have to be stripe and something else, maybe the brakes as mentioned above.

 

you cant really tell in the pic but the calipers are red. I will paint the brackets red probly to give more red accent in that area. once the C5 brakes are on, that big caliper/rotor will stand out much more than the wimpy stockers

i do like the silver/gray stripe but i dont think i want to match the calipers with it too. I like the red ideas as the interior will be all black with red accent racing seats once i get the cage and stuff installed later down the road. so alot of red accents.

 

Just make sure the fender stripes are thick enough but not too thick, and the calipers NEED to match the red on the fenders. DO NOT do any other color accents except maybe some red Z28 emblems... NO MORE. Keep it as simple and clean as possible, trust me. Some people go crazy with accents then it ends up looking like crap.

 

Nay on a camaro. On a firebird they would work, like Iansane's. A thirdgen camaro doesn't have that smooth of a fender flare. I like this look for camaros:

Thats why i think the red stripes would work. car has red calipers, and factory red rocker decals, and red bumper decals. even the front camaro word on the grille is red. Motor is black and red. CAI i think will be black and red but i'm not sure its gotta match the engine tho. Interior is red for the moment but i will be toning that out with just accents on the seat or perhaps just red seats...not sure yet

But im definately not one to overdue accents

 

i say HELL YA. im gonna do mine this week in silver to match the ramair decals. and i might do the hood grilles the same color. Last night a made a new thread and i didn't even see this one.

BTW the GS's only had it on the driver side, so the pit crew could quickly identify their driver at high speeds.

i never did do this mod. I'll put on some red strips of tape or something to mock it up. WOuld look good especially with my new interior i have in the works

Its your car so you should do what you like, but personally, I think the stripes on the fender are way overdone.

 

firebat is on top of things looks better on the gfx oppose to the fender and you could even put them underneath the iroc emblem

 

my take is that GS stripes are perfectly acceptable if you "earn" them. Think of it as a way of denoting there's some corvette blood in your ride, and with your wheels/planned brakes I'd say you've got that down. GO FOR IT!!!

not to mention they look downright sexy.

but ONLY on the drivers side.

and if you put them on a bone stocker just for looks, THEN you're a poser.

 

Well thats the thing, it is a VETTE thing and i'm definately not in a vette lol i wish but the car does have some vette parts and used to share the L98 which is very similar to the vette L98's minus the alum heads I will have the brakes

Plus the car aint no joke its got some getup and go. Cant be too poser if its running 10's

when the weather clears tomorrow evening or thursday, i'll get a mock up stripe on there. Red tape i guess or whatever i can come up with. Just to get a live pic and feel for it. It should look good with the vette wheels and even better with my new planned drag wheels for next year

 

I think they look alright if you do it right. I do also agree that if they are just slapped on then they dont really fit. But i would have to say that using the stripes would not make you a poser. I would say that i guess a "poser" would be badging your car as somthing its not. The stripes are just an accent. Its just personal preference just like i believe its TPIROC has the "SS" i dont think he is a poser, I love that car. Its one of my favorites but its not a SS. But its a custom car that is BAD A$$. I think if you like the look as i do on the ground effects then add them just do it in a tasteful fassion. -Mat
