Do it now, or do it right?

Hey all, I have a quick question and since it is more appearance related, I will post it here.
I recently found a couple of small bubbles in my paint near the bottom of my quarter panels on both sides of the cars.
The paint has not come off, and when I push on the bubbles, they don’t flex or move so they are still pretty solid.
My guess would be that some rust has started behind the paint.

Now I have to make a choice.
I currently do not have access to the proper tools to fix it correctly, since I have a project car in the works. I will leave it at that and not bore you with the details, but needless to say, if I were to fix it now, it would using spray cans to fix it and most likely not have the exact color match since the Firebird is black.

In the spring I plan to start driving that project car and repaint the car I am driving.

The question comes down to, sand it down, take care of the rust, and then paint in the best I can with rattle cans, which will make the paint not match?

Wait till spring and keep an eye on those spots to make sure they don’t get much worse and if they do get bad to take care of it rattle can style then?

Either way, in spring the car is getting painted.

What do you all think?

Rust is like cancer, id attack it now. before its too late and you have to cut the metal out.

How big are the bubbles? Are you planning on doing alot of winter driving ? Are you storing it inside? If you are not driving it during the winter and keeping it in a garage I wouldnt really push the issue of repair. Since it wont be exposed to elements that will make it worse. But if its your dd and you live where there is a alot of snow and ice, (hence sand and salt for road treatment) id go ahead and fix it

bubbles in the paint are a sure sign that there is a rust hole underneath. it may not seem so just by pushing on it. but once you start sanding all the rust out you will see there is actually a hole there. rust doesnt start behind the paint. it started from the other side of the panel and has worked its way out.

so to answer your question it would not be a matter of simply sanding down the rust and repainting. depending on the size of the hole, it will require some sort of filling or welding in a patch.

good luck!
