Media for sand blasting

I just bought i sand blasting in from a bucket kit. Where do i get the media for this? I saw some for $30 but i thought that was a little pricey. Can i just use regular sad for say a kids sand box? I would like to get started on cleaning my TPI (no, not while its on the car! )

I would not use regular sand it is very inconsistent. Usually a Cement Company has the blasting sand. Caution: This is Silica Sand and is very dangerous to breath. Make sure you have face & body protection as well as a high quality respirator.

Also http://www.eastwoodco.com/ carries other blast media such as glass beads, aluminum oxide, pecan shells, silicone carbide.

You can get many different types of sand. We get it at the local parts store. If it is just sand you are looking for then it is relatively cheap. I use glass bead because it is softer on the work. It is great for aluminum and mild steel. If you are looking at blasting lots of rust I would switch to sand.
