Anybody ever bought paint from ebay? Anybody ever used single stage paint with good results?

My painter says if its black use single stage. That is if the painter is a good one. He says a black car will look deeper with single stage paint. Also a black car should reflect any color its near. Like say if you park a black car on green grass (if painted right) the car should look green.

What do you guys think about this?

Re: PAINTING.....EBAY

I have never bought paint off Ebay.My past 4 experiances with Ebay have been horriable. At least try Summit, Eastwood, Or Autobodydepot.
I will tell you that I think that unless you are painting a tractor, single stage is not the way to go.Urethane base coats and clear coats are way more durable than single stage, IMO.It is much easier to repair a scratch or imperfection in a clearcoat than it is a enamel.Urethanes are a step up to enamels.I am currently using waterbourne paints at my shop and I dont like them as much.
Urethanes are great. They are great to work with.Enamel paint does have a lot of depth....BUT... in a few years that finish will dull. That is where urethanes come in.You can always just reclear them if you need to.Hell I have wet sanded and buffed my truck about 3 times!
Good luck in whatever you choose!

PPG is a good paint. Check out your local body shop, the one that turns high quality work and see what they are using. I agree with bsporty do not use single stage it will look good now but in a few years it will be faded and crappy looking. Then youll be back where you started.

Re: PAINTING.....EBAY

PPG is great but its $$$$$$.They make an economy brand called Omni too.We use RM(BASF).I had called our supplier to get a price. It was gona be about $250.Now thats my price, I get a discount. That was for a gallon of WA8555 and a gallon of reducer. If you go to a body shop supplies store they will have all kinds of paints to choose from and as long as you have a paint code.I also recommend checking out prices for Sherwin Willams, no not the house paint!
We used thier paint before we switched to the RM.Its actually great paint.
Summit just came out with a line of urethane paints too.Everything ya need for about $300.THere is a whole article about it in this months PHR mag.
Hope this helps!
