Is is worth trying to restore the door panels?

Mine are pretty faded and crappy, should I take them off and recloth them?
Or would it be better do just buy new ones?
How much has to come off around them to take em off? Thanks

Go to the junk yard and get a set for real cheap and redo those. That way if you don't like how they come out, you've still got the originals to put back on.

I recovered mine, it's really easy, but I went for a solid cloth look with raised flames. They turned out really good, I wish I had a pic to show ya. It's really simple, search through the posts and one of them has a .pdf file in it with all the instructions you need.

First off, I don't think anyone sells new ones, you'd have to find good used.

As for taking them off, you need to remove the arm rest, door lock lever, any switches you may have, then the trim piece from around the handle. Careful, not all of the torx screws in the trim piece are real, some are plastic. You don't want to damage the fake ones. Then you need to carefully pry the clips out of the door (you want them to stay in the door panel) starting at the top back of the door and working counterclockwise around the bottom and up the front. There are no clips along the top. Once the door panel is loose, make sure your window is down and the door is wide open. Hold the panel at the bottom and swing the door panel out and up. This will release the trim piece at the top from the door.

If you need to recover, you may want to consider doing something custom. You can reuse your cardboard backing if it is not warped, or get some masonite board or heavy cardboard and use your old one as a template. You can buy rolls of thin foam padding and glue it to the new panel. If you want a custom design you can use an exacto knife to cut the design into the foam at this point. You can also layer the foam for a more pronounced effect. Your imagination is your limit, and there are lots of materials you can use from leather to vinyl to cloth to carpets. Of course it'll look better if your doors match the rest of your interior. And of course if you can find the cloth and can sew, you could replicate the factory panels. Good luck.
