Is it possible to polish the rims by hand.
No drills, no buffers, no polishers(?)
Just a block with some sandpaper and some normal polish.
Figure, take the clear off with aircraft paint remover.
Sand with 180... slowy move up to 600...
then start wetsanding with 600... up until around 1000-1500 then polish. Will it work?

I spent a while here searching the boards and I pretty much polished my wheels by hand. First I got some aircraft remover and took off all the clearcoat. Then I used 220, 320, 400, 600, 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000 grit sandpaper to wet sand very slowly. Then I put in a couple coats of mothers mag. First I just used a crappy toothbrush but ended up using a Black and Decker Mouse, it worked good. The hard part with the toothbrush was rubbing it in hard/fast enough to make it turn black, but I am very happy with how it came out, my wheels look excellent!

there seems to be so many questions about polishing rims, perhapps it needs its own forum??
I've looked through the forums quite a bit. There's no direct talk about it. Especially without tools. I remember hearing of one person, that's all.
I've got plenty of time to do it, I'm using SS wheels as my everyday wheels, want to make these shiny though.

Thing is... by hand there are a lot of wasted steps. By adding a drill, buffing pad, and the two compounds, tripoli, and white rouge, you cut your sanding steps to:
180/320/400
Tripoli
White Rouge
..additionally there is a polishing phenomenon that creates a "black clouding" using grits above say 600.
If the above posted processes worked for you then by all means go for it, I just noticed many problems trying these things.
