I am painting my car this weekend and I wanted to know where I can buy the paint, will any local paint and body shop have it? I wanted to get the PPV CLV paint, but I don't know if its normally carried by anyone or if it has to be ordered. Also I read about some product called "total prep" or something like that and it takes off waxes and dirt on the cars surface. My dad is sending me to buy all the paints and supplies so he can paint it, not a bad deal he knows what he's doing. But I sure don't know where to find everything I'll need.

 

You can gat all of what you want at a local paint supply house. If you have a body shop (or a few) somewhere in the area, most likely there will be a supplier nearby. Checking the yellopages would be a good start to see whereabouts one might be.

Most of the time (at least here) if you go in & ask for just one thing they will usually make sure you are getting what you want aling with the proper thinners/reducers/other adders as well.

Above post is correct. Some bodyshops have a mixing system stocked with paints but most order the paint they need from a paint supply store.

They will coach you on proper prep & needed supplies.
