I recently bought a low mileage 92' RS vert. The paint on the entire car is in pretty good shape with the following two exceptions...1)rear decklid and spoiler - thanks ASC! and 2) I replaced the front spoiler because it was banged up (has no paint at all).

Would you repaint just those pieces or would you repaint the entire car? Estimates to paint the pieces range from $300-$600. Estimates to paint the entire car are from $500-$1500 (from a Eurethane clear coat mix to base coat/clear coat job).

To put it in perspective, I have gone through the whole car and changed/restored everything mechanical/interior/etc. and have about $8500 in it now. Kind of a tough decision for me because the rest of the car looks pretty good and I don't want to spend a lot more $$$. However if I had the whole car done I could get rid of a couple door dings and get it perfect. This is not my daily driver.

Would appreciate your thoughts...Alex

 

Take that **** to maaco..... i work there so i know....... and just get the spoiler painted and whatever else is needed! (will be around $300 for an awesome basecoat clearcoat)

 

If the paint is good on the rest of the car, I would have the two pieces painted for a couple reasons First I do not think you will be happy with a $1,500 paint job. Unless you know someone and are getting a "deal" I do not think you will be happy with a $1,500 job long term. A couple years from now it may look worse than the paint you have.

The front spoiler and rear spoilers can be removed and dropped of for painting. I just did that with my front one last last fall. Make sure they put flex-aid in the paint so it will not crack if you scrap it.
