Re: Firebird split window look!

Roadthrills, the wider, radiused section you added is a good idea, I may work on that. Later.

I've always to try and adapt a 2nd gen style spoiler. Looks like they actually did it a while ago. Where'd you find that ad though?

Re: Firebird split window look!

i think it might work if you did it a bit differently.
put a little bit of shape to the split.
i dont think it looks too bad, but it could definitely be better.

I have one of those spoliers, but not the spats.

You're right, they are super-rare. I looked for it for years, and I've never seen another one for sale since.

A couple of years back, I decided I wasn't going to use it on my car. I chased Hawk's for awhile to see if they wanted to buy it so they could reproduce it to sell. Never got any interest from them.

I'd still like to see someone do that. Those spoilers would fit Camaros as well, and since so few are out there, you wouldn't get a lot of "Ain't that a Fahrburd spoiler you got on that there Cuhmarah?" comments.

The guy I bought it from was a bit of a knucklehead. There are some surface cracks in the gel coat, so he put bondo on some of them to "smooth 'em out". Thing is, he never smoothed the bondo out before it dried. It'll need to be sanded by someone who knows what they're doing. Still, it would make an excellent buck for a mold.

Hey, you guys should get some offers for those since I know I had many to purchase my parts even though they weren't for sale. Later.

Re: Firebird split window look!

I would sell my spoiler, but I'd prefer to sell it to someone who would use it to make a mold and market the spoilers to other 3rd Genners. That's Why I was so disappointed that I couldn't get any interest from Hawk's. They're THE 3rd Gen guys.
They already have the totally awesome 5" blade spolier for Camaros http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/im...?productId=161

They advertise it as being sold exclusively by them. I'd think the Z20 spoiler would be a perfect fit for them. The dude I talked to, though, said he didn't think there would be enough interest. Maybe they'd change their minds if they heard from enough 3rd Genners.

Re: Firebird split window look!

Maybe if it looked like it was two windows like a split window Corvette Stingray I'd like it more but just as a stripe....No.

There ya go!!! I do like the concept, but I think the proportions are a bit wrong,,,wider with some raius to the edges helps.... If you can get the design to look "right" on the outside of the glass, it would look more finished if it were an actual split glass.... Now, to find someone who has some luck with cutting glass, just happen to have a couple extra hatches around.... could end up like chopping a top, the windshield is always the hardest part......
