Polishing glass?

My windshield has tons of superfine scratches in it, its not possible to put a nail into one, or even feel it with a finger, I've tried the newspaper/windex trick to see if the ink would soak into the scratches and make them invisible but no such luck.

The windshield can appear completely clear and clean, but once I get hit by a ray of sun on the windshield it illuminates every fine scratch and imperfection in the glass.

Is my only other option to replace the windshield? Or is there a product out there that can fill these scratches in so they aren't noticible, or at least reduce their visibility.
