Re: Window Tint
Mine are 25% if i remember correctly, might be 20% though. I live in Jersey and have been pulled over like 3 times for the tints (all in the same week non the less). They all let me off with a warning though.
They look alot darker when the T-tops are on but for some reason i don't have one picture of my car with T-tops on.

Re: Window Tint
35% actually looks quite dark. That's what I have on my 92 and don't think I'd like any darker.

Re: Window Tint
I have 20% on sides and rear. Its hard to see at night but nice in the mornings and when real sunny. I would go with 35% if i had it to do over.

I live in florida, Legally you can have 35% on the side windows and 20% in the rear. ME? well i put 5% Limo tint all the way around. Ive been pulled over about 5 or 6 times for my tint. But only got a verbal warning that i need to fix it. have i fixed it? NO! will i fix it? NO! Also they say it cant go any lower than the AS1 line on your windsheild. which mine is 8 inches down. Most of the time the police are just looking for an excuse to pull you over. and YES they can pull you over for tint being too dark. The times ive been pulled over i get pretty good compliments that my car looks good. and the Flat black looks pretty hot. It pretty much depends on your attitude if you were to get a ticket for it.

Re: Window Tint
I have yet to find an auto darkenin tint, Im looking into an auto darkenin winshield though (tryin to find one) I will most likely leave its just an idea. %35 on the sides is way to light for me, most of my buddys are runnin 20% and it does make it a lil harder to see out at night, but I think its well worth the look it has and the help it gives during the day.

Re: Window Tint
Here in Alaksa i think there's no limit on what you can have on the back. Driver windows and windsheild are a no go however.
As dark as it is in the winter, you'd need to install some off road lights in the back of your car to see anything
What's auto darkening tint? Never heard of it.

Re: Window Tint
I think 20% all the way around is the best balance of dark enough to be worth the trouble while still being able to see out. I've had darker tint and it usually just makes the car harder to see out of at night without looking much darker from outside.

Re: Window Tint
OK so what do you ppl mean by %??
Is that % of light BLOCKED or LET IN??
What determines shades of darkness??
Can the big rear window be done in 1 piece? I've seen big curved windows done in strips that don't look too good after a year or so.
Thanks.

Re: Window Tint
The rear window can be done in one piece. The tint film is plastic, so the installer can shrink it to fit curved glass. A good job usually runs about $150.

Re: Window Tint
Thanks Drew.
The only tint in mine is on the t-tops & the blue/green strip across the top of the windshield.
When spring hits, I'm going to check on getting it done. From what I've heard, Illinois is pretty tough on tints on rear & side windows.

Re: Window Tint
You can check the state to state regulations online. http://www.tintdude.com/laws.html is one link.
I've had 15% all around, 20% all around, 20% sides/5% rear at least twice, all while in Kansas and South Dakota. I've never been pulled over for the tint. I've had two cops mention it while stopped for other offenses, and only one wrote me a ticket for it. But then I did give him a ton of attitude. As long as you stay within reason (20-25%) you probably won't attract any attention. Just don't be surprised if the officer writes you a fix-it ticket after stopping you for a 75ft burnout.

Re: Window Tint
The guy that I am going to have do my windows, for the 5% on the back and 20% on the sides, says that he will do it all with the one piece rear window for $300 with him having to take the back tint off or $200 for it all if i take the tint off of the back for him.
