Question about the brake light on my Camaro

i have an 89 rs with the brake light on the lip spoiler. i just pulled a spoiler off of a third gen firebird. dunno what year... anyway... i was wondering how hard it would be to move the brake light from the lip spoiler to the top of the rear window. i'd also like to know if it's worth it. i really really like the spoiler, it's in great condition (paint's going, but it's candy apply red and my car's silver). any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance,
Mike

Its ugly to say the least. The only way to have the lights on the trunk mounted 3rd light work is to have the connectors located on the lip are connected and making a circuit.

In order to change it, you would have to take the wires from the end of the piece on the trunk and run them back into the wheel well and up the headliner to the location of that light. Or you can run it from the hatch wires up the side of the glass and connect it there. The latter would be much easier.

Ok. I *might* be able to run the wires up the side of the glass and attach it there. In that case would I'd hafta punch holes through the glass or would i have to get a new back winshield made for that kind of brake light? also, would i be able to take the hatch off of the firebird and put it on my Camaro? i know it's a long shot, but i'll try anything, i really like this spoiler.
thanks,
Mike

If you want that style so badly, get either an '86 hatch (for the light on the outside) or a '91-'92 hatch (for a smaller light on the inside). Many people don't like the '86 style brake light, but since I painted mine body color, no one has ever told me that they didn't like it. The '91-'92 style keeps the smooth rear glass, but I've heard many complaints about rear passengers hitting their head on the housing. Either hatch should be a direct bolt on, using the same power connection as your current hatch. Either one should be pretty easy to find in a wrecking yard.
