Stigma with thirdgens being ****** machines. Lets talk tasteful mods...

I say we have a school of the do's and dont's of thirdgen modifying. Lets face it. Thirdgens have a stigma of being ****** machines, Trailer park, white trash, ect ect. I get my share of comments of the ford guys that I work with. So please add any mods not to do. I'll start a few.
-Any body parts that are put on with 3M adhesive except 91-92 Hood blisters, blackouts. So no stick on lund hood scoops ect.
-multi colors that are vibrant...like rainbows painted on your car.
-No mud tires or lifts or raising the rear up w/air shocks
-Spoilers over 8" tall eg. Shopping cart wings (some exceptions)
-Wheels that stick out in rear more than 2" from fender lip.
- Side pipes
-Every bumper sticker known to man on your back window.
- Using coke bottles as overflows. Inless its an emergency drag strip situation.

Guys don't take offense. Just havin fun. So list your do's and don'ts

How? to me he just wants a thread about what not to do to a camaro. There are a ton of other "bandwidth wasting" threads on this forum. You don't say anything about them.

One persons DO NOT list is another persons DO list. This thread only invites "fights" between different peoples opinions.

If you don't like another persons choice if mods, you should still respect their desire to modify their OWN car to THEIR taste. We only hafta like our own cars. We don't have to like or approve of what THEY do to THEIR car.

Do my 4th gen side mirrors & 4th gen wing qualify as "ricing" my GTA? If so....Oh well. I'm the only one who has to like my car. Not you, him, him, or anyone else. Just me. And I do!

I vote thread lock, before the "arguments" get out of hand.

Re: Stigma with thirdgens being ****** machines. Lets talk tasteful mods...

I think the mods that are acceptable depend on the purpose of the car, pretenders aree always lame.

But for the most part I thing bad mods are pretty universal... like having extreme offset wheels. It was common back in the day and the best example I have seen lately is thc camaro 92nd gen) in the Papa Johns pizza commercial. It's an early 2nd gen, looks like a Z28 in gold and black with one of those terrible aftermarket sun roofs and the wheels and tires stick out atleast 2-3 inches per side. It looks like a total throw back to 1984

I think any hood scoop looks bad on a 3rd gen but then if you have a real race car and need something like that theres no problem with form bowing to function.

You dont see amny non factory body kits on 3rd gens like you do on 4th gens and SN series mustangs but they exist and are all ugly.

Wheels bigger than 18" or smaller than 15" are usualy a bad idea, a set of 14's with slicks being an exception but theres no reason to make those your DD wheels.

I think the notch back/coupe conversions look like crap, same goes for rear window luvers those raised "turbo" style hoods and supra-esq rear wings. I have yet to see a headlight filler for the 3rd gen camaro that didnt look cheap. The cars are always better off without them though again if it's a truely quick car and the driver feels the aero advantage is there then cosmetics must make way for practicality.

Excess rake unless it's a vintage race car replica is pointless and silly.

Any painted interior pieces are a no-no. Especialy if it's something that you touch like arm rests.

I vote thread lock IF it gets out of hand, closing a thread because you suspect inapropriate behavior may occour when the OP has not even been antagonistic it pointless. You might as well close the forum.

I say temp ban the only person in the thread who HAS ben antagonistic! ie fueled soul

I just created this thread for fun. If you guys are getting hurt already I'm sorry. Didn't mean to offend. I think all of us could agree on somethings that just don't look right. If we can't have an adult conversation on an adult website then I suppose it should be locked. Keep in mind.. I've seen 4wd camaros on this site that people weren't so impressed about. I've got a 92 Z28 that I think I need to tuck the wheels in the rear in a little more. You guys could tell me it looks bad. I'd say thank you. I don't want to get laughed at.But to each there own. Also can we not say the "M" word that express a certain hair style? Thanks guys

If this was a waste of bandwidth why'd you comment to take up more bandwidth?
