Hey, I was looking at your photos... of your engine. I was curious about a few things. I don't really have the money for speed, however a rebuild is due sometime, and I'm thinking of upping the standard look. Some polish and some chrome. I noticed yours, and couldn't help but wonder a few things. If you could tell me a place to either get these, or how you've done it, it'd be of great thanks.

Master Cylinder (bottom and the top)
The hood Latches
The strut mounts
The headlight case thing
And anything else that is not usually chromed/polished on it.

Thanks in advance.

Master cylinder was removed and polished. The top is just an aftermarket Mr Gasket piece I purchased through Summit. Upper and lower hood latches, hood hinges, and the strut towers were done at a local chrome shop. The headlight case thing?? I'm assuming you are talking about the latch panel cover in front of the radiator? If so, that piece, the radiator hold down, electric fan mount and another small piece betweent he hold down and the latch panel cover are billet aluminum that was done at J & B Microfinish. I've also had the brake lines from the master cylinder to the wheels chromed along with the proportioning valve.

Basically about anything I could take off and run to the chrome shop. Some of the brackets were purchased already chromed. Hope this helps you out a little bit.

Hmmm... that sucks. I don't have a local polishing or chrome shop. As for the headlight thing I meant, the metal piece that actually holds the headlights. On the very outside. It was pretty shiny. Looked as though it had been polished.

If you don't mind me asking, around what did all that cost you?

The headlight rings have also been done at the chrome shop. As far as the aluminum goes (master cylinder) you can probably do the polishing yourself. If you don't have a local chrome shop the one I use does mail order. Their link is on my web page.

As far as cost goes it's been a while, but there is probably over $2000 in the chrome parts and an additional $800 in the billet pieces. That don't include the parts there were already chromed upon purchase. (valve covers, air cleaner, etc.)

If you contact The Chrome Shop they have a complete price list they could send you.

No problem. Remember it's been a while and that's just a best guess without checking reciepts.
