Tinting Rear Hatch

I want to tint my rear hatch but i'm not sure how to deal with the sides of the defroster lines. The sides seem to be raised up. i've tinted rear windows before but it seems like these side lines would get in the way and cause bubbles. anyone have any advice?

Most people don't tint over them instead they leave that 3/4 inch gap undone. Personaly I don't like the way it looks.

Ive never personally done it. BUT i had mine done and the tint guy said it would look better without lines so he scraped them all off with a razor. and tinted 5% limo tint on mine. I didnt use the defroster anyway so it was no big deal to me. He had a hard time getting into the curves. He told me it was one of the hardest windows to tint. he used a heat gun and water and ALOT of stretching the film to conform to the window. Mine looks great!.. good Luck!
