engine bay rinse
I want to go to the car wash and use the high pressure washer to spray down my engine. Is there anything that ABSOLUTELY cannot get wet? I know not to spray the alternator, battery, anywhere near relays ect. Will I be fine doing this? its a stock 88 L98.

I'm carbed - and I sprayed everything except directly at the carb with degreaser, waited 5 minutes, and hosed it all with the hi pressure - just don't spray directly into the air intake/filter no matter what induction, and you should be fine - I even sprayed all over the top of the intake to get it cleaned up (being careful to not spray the air filter/carb). You'll learn real quick if a spark wire is bad or if your dist cap has a crack if/when it gets wet - but those should dry out within a 1/2 hour - if you haven't had any issues in rain, you shouldn't have any issues at all.

I would not spray water near the dist. (best to cover it with a bag and tape it up) same for the alternator. Also don't spray near relays, or other electrical items.
An old detailing trick...mix Armor All 50/50 with distilled water and using an empty spray bottle. Spray down your engine compartment - hoses, plastic, etc...

hose down cap n wires with WD-40 once your done if it runs funny.
USe to do that with my motorcycle but would leave it running as water often got in bad places, but still running kept it going, just have to be careful that you don't shock a hot engine with cold water, take it slow.
