painting questions cost wise
so i know that some might consider askin how much the paint cost them rude but please dont be offended...
i have an 88 z28 that ive been workin on and want to repaint it i have a sprayer and what not that ive never used any idea on ROUNDABOUTS of what decent paint costs??? i havent completly decided on the paint sceme. im leaning for glossy black with lime green side skirts.
any idea on how much the paint and clearcoat would be? im not wanting high dollar stuff but i want something thats still gonna be good at showing off.
thanks
and if theres any tips or tricks to spraying anything is appreciated

Re: painting questions cost wise
Well first off I wanna apologize for nobody on here answering this question before, seems like people have kinda been slowing down on helping others out on this site. Just IMO.
I recommend using NASON paint, sold at oreillys. My paint,
Atomic Orange 07-09gm color, cost $385 and that includes base, reducer,
clear, and activator. Are you needing to prime the car as well? The key to having a good paint job is amazing prep work, clean painting area and clean car, I personally flood the space I paint in and I put water soaked sheets on the tires. Use a tach rag often and a prep solve that is anti static. Prime over 180grit sandpaper scratches and paint over 320grit sand scratches. When it comes to clearing the car it is ALWAYS better to put it on wet, the motto I go by is you can always wet sand runs but u have to redo if it's dry. Also when it comes to wet sanding nothing under 1500grit, the detailer at my buddys dads shop says that he won't buff anything less then 2000grit. I think ur paint will be a bit cheaper then mine, I painted my entire car with just a gallon of paint, I think I used a bit more clear then they gave me though. Make sure when u paint that ur air pressure, spray pattern, and paint flow is comfortable for ur spraying technique. Maybe watch some videos on YouTube for painting basics to learn proper form and distance. First time I painted I filled the cup with water and sprayed it on a car to learn overlapping,
spraying movements, pattern adjustmant, and other painting basics

The key to an amazing paint job is the prep work. Also with good prep work comes longer lasting paint. Thread
