ground effects swap

I've been working on an 84 rs for the last 7 months or so, and finally got myself a decent parts car to work from, 84 z28 ( to bad shes all rotten ) anyways... i removed the side ground effects to discover the mounting bracket brittle and rusted and is spot welded onto the side

My idea is to take some angle iron and bend them out with a press, adding a few more degrees to the angle, and then bolt that onto the rocker panel, and then drill out the necessary holes to mount the ground effects, good idea? bad idea? has anyone done this before?

also, the gfx sections which are on the door, i havn't really looked at them in detail yet, but how are they removed?

Re: ground effects swap

For the piece that's on the door itself, you have to remove the interior door panell, then remove the nuts. There are 4 or 5 per door. Ours has acorn style nuts, IDK if that's original or not, ours is put together by a PO prior to us.

The GFX we have are held on at the front & rear with body screws.

Again, ours is NOT original GFX for the '87 Camaro we have.
