3" vs 4" cowl hood

Hi, as the title indicates i'm trying to decide between a 3" and a 4" cowl hood. Its going on a 89 iroc. I want something that will look nice but not block my view of the road and traffic too much while driveing. Any thought or opinions. Any pics would be helpfull as well.

Thanks

Re: 3" vs 4" cowl hood

I had a 4" cowl on my 84 Z, I'm 5' 10" and it didn't block very much of my vision, I daily drove the car b/c it was the only thing I had when I was 19. It did take a little getting used to, but I never ran into anything! haha

For whatever reason it wont allow me to enlarge this pic from the driver seat. But this pic is taken with my head back against the head rest for somewhat of a driver's view. It makes visibility look worse than it really is in this pic

Re: 3" vs 4" cowl hood

Well I had a Harwood on my 84 Z and it was perfect. Didn't require anything except trimming the front part of it which they leave long intentionally acording to Harwood.

I have a 4 inch VFN I just traded for. Fits perfect and like the previous post said, you just need to trim the front edge/lip. Not the best pics but best I can do right now...

2.5 or 3" IMHO is the way to go. 4" is flat out too big.

That, and most all of the 4" hoods are made with the 1st gen camaro body line/ridge going down the center. It looks, well, Ugh.

I would've gotten a Sunoco hood if they had it any taller than 3", but they don't make them that tall anymore. So I got an all steel 4" cowl hood from Tamraz and didn't look back. Love it! Fit perfect.

Well, a big block -OR- a small blower, and you need the room...

Unless you need the room or have something under the hood to back up the look stay with a 3" cowl. Nothing worse then all show no go.
