Faded IROC...
Faded IROC...
Hey all, I'm thinkin of getting this 87 IROC-Z, its 350. This thing drastically needs a paint job of some kind. The whole front is faded, the doors too. Near the back its a little shinier. Maybe they tried to buff it, or maybe its that way because it didn't hit wind and debri like front. But any way, it needs a paint job. So I was curious as to what a full body paint job would cost? Or if ya had any tips how to bring out the shine of such a faded car, please let me know. So I can save some money. All help, opinions, etc., would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tom

Ahh classic thirdgen paint fade..When I was looking for my car alot of the cars I came across had some sort of paint fade one way or another. My best advice would be to get a paint job..You can fudge it by waxing and buffing but it's not going to shine like new unless you get new paint in most cases.

What color is it? If it is a metallic color and it's fading that means the clearcoat has worn off and the whole car needs to be repainted. There is nothing you can do to bring the paint back. You can have a very decent paint job done for under $2000. although I would choose the paint shop very carefully as it is easy to get ripped off. If the rest of the car is clean and mechanically sound (no oil leaks, burning oil, ripped interior, dents etc...) then I would get the paint job. If not, don't waste your time and money, keep looking. Don't buy someone else's problem.
