What's up with the tires ????

Why does everyone use the wrong tire sizes? Bigger than stock or stock equivalent looks dumb (i.e. a 255/5015 on a 15x7 wheel) Tires that do nothing but hang over the rim handle worse than a correct tire size.
15x7= 215/65/R15, 225/50/R15, 235/50/R15
16x8= 245/50/R16, 255/50/R16
And why the big aspect ratio? (265/75) ???
I'm sure this will flame but if you want bigger tires get rims to fit them.

I hate bulge yecchhh, if I had my pick I'd put 245/45R16 or 245/50R16's on my rims, but I got what I could afford (215/60R16's) that matched the front tires (too cheap to buy 4)... I don't know why people would chose rather high tires other than for mileage reasons and gearing issues... plus some people like the rear end to be sky high...
