Vinyl Spray On Interior Parts?

I am trying to re-do my interior and don't have enough money to pay for new interior parts (In Australia a shifter plate for example is $280 AUD) so I am spraying most interior parts with black plastic vinyl spray, parts such as the kickpanels, the plastic in the hatch area and around the rear seats
If you get some spray putty (like you would use on car body repair) and sand it down with wet and dry sand paper it can work pretty well.
I would like to ask if anyone else has done an entire car like this and if so, was it effective?
If anyone else has any opinions please post.
Thanks

I tried painting the plastic panel which covers the spare tire, but i did not sand it, i just cleaned it. The pain did not stick well at all, most of it flaked off, and the color did not match great.

I have recolored several various interior trim panels on my vehicles with great success. You have to watch the color a bit as Ward noted above, since fading sometimes can cause the shades of a color to be different after many years of exposure. In some cases, you may have to recolor everything in order to get a good match.

Be sure before trying this that you clean each panel good to get any grease, etc. off of it. Then it's imperative that you use some sort of bonding agent before you spray the color on the panel. The paint will not stick for very long if you don't.

You can buy these sprays at most parts stores or paint stores.... I got mine (called Bond Aid) at WalMart.

It's not that difficult to get good quality results. Good luck!

I would recomend the interior paint goodies that Next Generation by Year One sells. They offer a vinyl and plastic cleaner. They also carry a bonding agent for both ABS and polypropylene plastics. They usually run around 10 bucks or so for either the 12-oz tube or 12-oz spray can. They also have in stock the 12-oz cans of factory stock colors.I have had very good luck with the painting of several interior plastic parts by using the above mentioned products.Hope this helps you out.

I paint every interior panel in my car. It was red and now it is black. What I did was wash all the parts with soap and water then sprayed on "bulldog adhesive promoter" then I used the plastic spray, dubont I believe. It looks great but the paint can scratch off. So I have to be careful around it but there is no pealing.
