polishing stock intake runners

polishing stock intake runners

hey guys i am gonna be porting my heads, and intake parts this winter and was wondering how hard it is to polish the outside of my runners. i would polish my runners and leave the rest alone. my runners are already the smoother ones(not cast finish corvette or late F-body ones) adn i am just wonderin how i would go about polishing them. thanks for your help.

just like any other polishing... sand sand sand polish.

Start with a 120,220 depends on out smooth already and move slowly up to 600. At 600 start wetsanding and move to the highest grit you want.

If you have the smooth ones, I would NOT start with 120. You would just make yourself more work doing that. I would start with no less than 320, possibly 400. Then work your way up to at least 1000, then polish it.
The Eastwood Company has some nice polishing kit. Im almost done polishing my plenum/SLP runners/fuel rails etc. with a kit from them, and it has worked out nicely. Just a hell of a lot of work with the raw cast of the SLP's..!!
