Re: window oxidation

Any pics of this? I'm not sure what you are talking about...it doesn't wipe off? I assume you tried that.

Re: window oxidation

Sounds like buildup of rain deposits ect. If your windows are not taken care of regularly this is what happens.

This is what you NEED
Tools and Products
  • High Speed Rotary Buffer
  • M04 Heavy-Cut Cleaner (Meguiars)
  • Glass Cleaner
  • 3" Wool Cutting Pad
  • Blue Painter's tape
  • Microfiber
You can not just simply use any BS over the counter orbital buffer with any pad. It NEEDS to be a High Speed Rotary w/ wool cutting pad or at least a foam cutting pad. If you dont have access or dont have the funds be prepared to be disappointed, but you can bunch up a cotton terry towel in your fingers and go to town with the M04. It will take a LONG time and if you are not experienced you most likely will give up because of not seeing results right away. That's why you really need a Rotary.

That being said here are some before and afters of a job that was done with the same equipment I just posted.

Re: window oxidation

Like I said we are not talking about a crappy rotary buffer like this.

We are talking about one like this.

With a 3" wool cutting pad on the backing plate like this one from buff and shine.

Step 1: Clean and wash windows, make sure they are completely dry.
Step 2: Mask edges around windows. So you dont marr your paint.
Step 3: Prime the pad with quick detail solution.
Step 4: Add some m04 to the pad, work it on the surface and then hit it with high speed.
Step 5: Work the machine back and forth, up and down until you can barely see the compound anymore.
Step 6: Wipe with micro fiber, and repeat until desired result appears.

Re: window oxidation

Rubbing alcohol with salt will clean that with ease.
